The Rhinebeck High School/Bulkeley Middle School "Parent Academy" is a series of workshops sponsored by the Rhinebeck Central School District’s Health and Wellness Committee.  The purpose of these workshops is to educate and inform the families of the Rhinebeck community about the many societal challenges and changes facing schools, students, and parents in the 21st Century as we support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success of our students.

Time:  8:30am-12:45 p.m.; Participants can choose which workshops to attend

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PARENT ACADEMY

Workshops Offered: 

 

 1   Not My Kid – an informative presentation on the warning signs and symptoms of drug use, descriptions of popular drugs, the “party scene”, and information given on the resources available within the school and community – offered all three sessions

 

Instructors:  Panel will include at least one of the following: Pediatrician, Attorney, Substance Abuse Counselor, Police Officer, Student, and Parent

 

 

2.       Know Your Food and meet Rhinebeck’s new Food Service Director  a look into the school lunch program including the following:  what constitutes a school lunch, debunk myths, update on the USDA changes including snacks and beverages – offered all three sessions

 

  Instructors:  Panel will include at least one of the following: Larry Anthony (Food Service     Director) and Nutritionist

3.       Living as a Teen in 2014 – an in depth look into the life of a teenager in school including the following:  peer pressure, stress, self-esteem, respect/clothing, dating, school work load, and the effects of social media – offered all three sessions

 

 

  Instructors:  Panel will include at least one of the following: Psychologist, Social Worker, Student
