Parents Reminded of the Opportunity to Update or Expand Their Emergency Contacts in SchoolMessenger
As most parents probably are aware, SchoolMessenger is an electronic notification system that is used by our schools and our school district to provide timely communication to parents/guardians and/or staff on a variety of topics. We have been using SchoolMessenger to communicate with parents and staff in the event of a school or a school district emergency. We also use the e-mail function of this notification system to provide information about other non-emergency matters, including daily student absenteeism, as well as information and reminders of school activities and other items of general child and parent interest regarding our schools and non-profit organizations in our community.
SchoolMessenger allows us to contact parents within minutes with emergency and non-emergency information by home telephone, work telephone, cell phone, e-mail and/or text message. School Messenger also works like a mailbox, providing a place to review messages that may have been missed.
Our notification system uses the phone numbers and e-mail addresses that parents have provided to us when registering and that currently are stored in SchoolTool, our student management system. Parents who have not provided us with a primary e-mail address or who wish to check on the accuracy of the e-mail address on file with us should contact their child's school office.
However, we wanted to remind you that SchoolMessenger provides the capability of including additional phone contacts, e-mail addresses, SMS text accounts, or to opt out of being contacted for non-emergency messages. (Please note that SchoolMessenger can only contact telephone numbers directly, so telephone numbers with extensions can not be used.)
Parents who wish to update, expand, or correct contact information in SchoolMessenger are advised to contact their child’s building principal or Mr. Thomas Burnell, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services (845-871-5520 ext 5528) and make a request for changes to be implemented. If parents wish to make their own changes, now or in the future, they should contact Mr. Burnell and request an identification number and activation code so they can process these changes themselves whenever they wish to do so.
