RHINEBECK HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCES BROTHERS AS THE VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN


The faculty of Rhinebeck High School is proud to announce the Class of 2014 valedictorian and salutatorian, Brandt Slayton and Alexander Slayton, respectively.

 

Valedictorian Brandt Slayton is an AP Scholar with Honors, a member of the Alice T. Daly Chapter of the National Honor Society, and a 2014 Mid Hudson Athletic League Scholar Athlete.  He was named a Rhinebeck High School Student of the month seven times, received the Rhinebeck PTSO Spanish Award, was a member of the 2012 Area All State Band and the 2010 and 2011 All County Band, and is the recipient of the IBM Watson Scholarship.

 

Mr. Brandt Slayton is a member of the Varsity Track Team, and won third place in the Division II 400m dash at the 2013 State Track Meet.  He is also a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, and was a member of the 2012 and 2013 Section IX Championship teams.  Mr. Slayton also participated in Rhinebeck High School’s music program as a member of the High School Band, Jazz Band, and Pit Band.  He was a member of the Rhinebeck-Rheinbach Cultural/Musical Exchange Program and is currently a member of the Rhinebeck Rotary Interact Club.  He will attendDartmouth College in the fall.

 

Salutatorian Alexander Slayton is an AP Scholar with Distinction Award winner, and was a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program.  He is a member of the Alice T. Daly Chapter of the National Honor Society, and a winner of the National Latin Exam Gold Award.  He was named Rhinebeck High School Student of the Month seven times, attended the American Legion Boys’ State Program in 2013, was a member of the 2010 and 2011 All County Band, and is a recipient of the IBM Watson Scholarship.

 

Mr. Alexander Slayton is a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, and was a member of the Varsity Soccer Section IX 2012 and 2013 Championship squads.  He is also a member of the Varsity Track and Field team, and participates in Rhinebeck’s music program in the High School Band, the Jazz Band, and the Pit Band.  He took part Rhinebeck-Rheinbach Cultural/Musical Exchange Program and is currently a member of the Rhinebeck Rotary Interact Club.  He will attend Lafayette College in the fall.

 

 

Brandt and Alexander Slayton are the sons of Paul and Nancy Slayton of Rhinebeck.
