Community Facilities Taskforce Members To Visit District Schools on Monday, Sept 26, Starting at CLS at 6:30 pm
The Rhinebeck Central School District's Community Facilities Taskforce (CFT) conducted its Kick-Off meeting on September 20th, and will conduct a walk-through of the District's facilities on Monday evening, September 26, 2016. The CFT walk-through will start at the front door of Chancellor Livingston Elementary School on Knollwood Avenue in Rhinebeck at 6:30 pm. After a tour of the building conditions at CLS, the Community Facilities Taskforce will conduct a building conditions tour of the Bulkeley Middle School/Rhinebeck High School campus.
The members of the CFT have been charged with assisting the Board of Education with feedback on the prioritization of any/all potential facilities project components addressed in the required Building Conditions Survey (BCS) recently submitted to the State Education Department. The Community Facilities Taskforce will be further charged with reviewing whether the needs, schedule, and costs regarding those items will or will not support the District’s educational programs, with its Mission, Vision, and Core Values as a reference point, and will make recommendations to the Board of Education for its final review and consideration.
Volunteer members of the Community Facilities Taskforce met with the District’s architects, administrators, and several BOE members on September 20th, engaging in insightful and constructive dialogue, questioning, and making suggestions, with the goal of presenting its findings to the Board of Education and the community during October 2016. At least 2-3 evening meetings are anticipated through early/mid October 2016. Community Facilities Taskforce members will then be asked to act as ambassadors to the community regarding any future facilities project that may be developed as a result of the CFT process.
According to Mr. Joseph Phelan, Superintendent of Schools, “We were happy to see the strong interest and active participation from community members at our Kick-Off meeting on September 20th. We look forward to exploring and examining the District's current facilities needs 'up close and personally' on Monday evening, September 26 at 6:30 pm at CLS. All interested community members are welcome to join in.”
Anyone who would like to attend the September 26th CFT building walk-through, or in participating as a member of the CFT, should contact Christine Belcher, Secretary to the Superintendent, at 871-5520 extension 5522, or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any questions at this stage of the process can be addressed to Superintendent Phelan or to members of the Board of Education.
