Board of Education Budget Adoption
At their Regular meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, the Rhinebeck Central School District Board of Education will consider the adoption of a proposed 2014-15 school district budget for presentation to the District’s voters for their consideration and approval at the Annual Meeting and Budget/Board of Education Member Vote on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.
At 7:00 pm, prior to the April 8th Regular Board meeting, the Board will provide the opportunity for public review and comment on the proposed 2014-15 school budget at a non-required budget hearing. The hearing and the Regular Board of Education meeting will be held in the Middle School/High School Library. While the Board is set to adopt a budget at the April 8th BOE meeting, they have until April 22nd to do so if the BOE members decide they need additional time for review and discussion.
After the adoption of a proposed 2014-15 school budget, a public hearing required by New York State will be held at the May 13, 2014 BOE meeting, with the budget vote one week later, on May 20th between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm in the Bulkeley Middle School Cafeteria.
The proposed 2014-15 school budget under consideration for adoption on April 8th includes the expenditure of $30,851,358, a 1.87% budget-to-budget increase over the current year’s spending plan. The proposed budget will result in a tax levy increase of 1.87%. Under the New York State Tax Levy Cap legislation formula, the Rhinebeck Central School District is limited to a tax levy increase of 1.88%. The proposed 2014-15 school budget, if adopted by the Board of Education on April 8th and approved by the District’s voters on May 20th, will be below the statutory limitation of the Tax Levy Cap formula again this year.
