"Collective Imagination" Highlights RCSD Student Artwork at Montgomery Row, Rhinebeck, NY, from May 2 - 27, 2016; Opening Reception To Be Held on May 6
“Collective Imagination” marks the tenth annual group exhibition of works by students attending Rhinebeck Central School District. Students from grades K through 12 will present a body of work containing a variety of media used in their academic classes. This show highlights works of art by students studying with Fawn Johnson (CLE), Jennifer Famiglietti (BMS), and Kathryn Giles and Cynthia Baer (RHS). These works show the expertise students gain as they study within Rhinebeck Central Schools’ arts curriculum, as well as the faculty’s creativity in developing artistic talent.
The exhibit includes both traditional and contemporary styles of work. While the artwork reflects students’ proficiency in using mixed media, pencil, charcoal, pastel, mosaics, and acrylic painting, it also is representative of the themes and interests of the students. Themes included this year are local life, nature, the senses, self-awareness and emotions. Other pieces selected exemplify students’ understanding of the elements and principles of art. This exhibit provides a snapshot of the creative experiences Rhinebeck Central School students are exposed to as they participate in Rhinebeck’s art curriculum from one grade level to the next. “Collective Imagination” will run from May 2 - May 27, 2016.
The public is invited to join faculty and students at a reception on Friday, May 6 from 5-7 pm. Montgomery Row Second Level is located at Montgomery Row, 6423 Montgomery Street (Route 9) in Rhinebeck. It is open to the public Monday-Sunday 9am-6pm.
