Board of Education To Consider Adoption of Proposed 2015-16 School Budget on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, After Non-Required Public Budget Hearing

At a Special meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, the Rhinebeck Central School District Board of Education will consider the adoption of a proposed 2015-16 school district budget for presentation to the District’s voters for their consideration and approval at the Annual Meeting and Budget/Board of Education Member Vote on Tuesday, May 19, 2015.

At 7:00 pm, prior to the April 21st Special Board meeting, the Board will provide the opportunity for public review and comment on the proposed 2015-16 school budget at a non-required budget hearing. The hearing and the Regular Board of Education meeting will be held in the Middle School/High School Library.

After the adoption of a proposed 2015-16 school budget, a public hearing required by New York State will be held at the May 12, 2015 BOE meeting, with the budget vote one week later, on May 19th between 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm in the Bulkeley Middle School Cafeteria.

The proposed 2015-16 school budget under consideration for adoption on April 21st includes the expenditure of $31,678,665, a 2.68% budget-to-budget increase over the current year’s spending plan. The proposed budget will result in a tax levy increase of 2.17%.  Under the New York State Tax Levy Cap legislation formula, the Rhinebeck Central School District is limited to a tax levy increase of that amount. The proposed 2015-16 school budget, if adopted by the Board of Education on April 21st and approved by the District’s voters on May 19th, will be within the statutory limitation of the Tax Levy Cap formula again this year.
